Student Teaching Attendance Policy:

As full-time student teachers, you are expected to be at your placement full-time. All absences should be coordinated in advance (when possible), communicating directly with your Cooperating Teacher and University Supervisor and making all necessary arrangements. Excused absences include:

  • Two days for Job Fairs in April (e.g. Portland Educator Fair)
  • Two Personal / Professional days for illness, appointments, and/or job search/interviews

As a student teacher, if you miss school for more than these days, you will be required to make up the hours at the end of the term.

Observed holiday and/or school closures, count as part of total hours.
