Student Teaching Attendance Policy:

As full-time student teachers, you are expected to be at your placement full-time (e.g. when teachers are “in the building”). All absences should be coordinated in advance (when possible), communicating directly with your Cooperating Teacher and University Supervisor and making all necessary arrangements. Excused absences include:

  • Two days for Job Fairs in April (e.g. Portland Educator Fair)
  • Two Personal / Professional days for illness, appointments, and/or job search/interviews

As a student teacher, if you miss school for more than these days, you will be required to make up the hours at the end of the term.

Observed holiday and/or school closures, count as part of total hours.
